Step 1: CAD Import and Retopology
The client provides engineering CAD files (STEP, IGES, CATIA) of the vehicle. These files contain mathematically precise geometry but are far too dense for animation. We retopologize the mesh — simplifying millions of polygons into animation-friendly geometry while preserving every panel gap, vent grille, and body crease.
Step 2: Paint Shader Development
Automotive paint is one of the most complex materials to simulate in 3D. A real car's paintjob consists of:
